Robert D. “Speedy” Byrd
Robert D. “Speedy” Byrd, 73, of Sandy Flats Road, Williamsburg, departed this life on Tuesday, May 9, 2017 at his home.
He was born on July 7, 1943 in Jellico, to the late Jessie Lewis Byrd and Neil Marion Byrd.
He was preceded in death by a son, James Byrd; grandson, Zachariah Byrd; brothers, Herman Byrd and L.C. Byrd and a sister, Maggalee Byrd.
He is survived by his four children, Diane Patterson and husband Dennis of Knoxville, TN, Robert Dewayne Byrd and wife Ruby of Williamsburg, Patricia Parks and her husband James of Williamsburg and Jerri Inman and husband Mathew of Williamsburg; ten grandchildren, Mathew Patterson, Robert Byrd, Hannah Byrd, Brandon Byrd, James D. Parks, Joshua Parks, Jessie Byrd, Justin Inman, Charles Patterson and Bradley Green; three great-grandchildren; three brothers, Joe Byrd of Williamsburg, Tim Byrd of North Carolina and Tony Byrd of Knoxville; eight sisters, Nannie Veach of Williamsburg, Maxine Elliott of Jellico, Ann Farmer of Texas, Betty Byrd of Williamsburg, Janice Jaynes of Williamsburg, Ennie Mahan of Williamsburg, Jessie Hansford of Williamsburg and Sallie Miller of Knoxville; several nieces and nephews; and a host of other family and friends to mourn his passing.
Funeral services were held Friday, May 12, at the Croley Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Dale Byrd officiating.
Following the service he was laid to rest the Hackler Cemetery on Indian Mountain with Justin Inman, Mathew Inman, Joshua Parks, James Parks, Dennis Patterson and Mathew Patterson serving as pallbearers.
