Rev. Ellis Hugh Hoskins, Sr.

Rev. Ellis Hugh Hoskins, Sr., 86, of Harrogate, TN, passed away Tuesday, September 27, 2016, at the LaFollette Rehab Center, LaFollette, TN.

Rev. Hoskins was born November 22, 1929 to Rufus and Roseanna Hoskins.

He was a member at Eagle Rock Missionary Baptist Church, Shawanee, TN, and was ordained as a minister at Shawanee Missionary Baptist Church on July 23, 1962.

He pastored ten churches in his ministry including: Northside Missionary Baptist Church, Harmony Baptist Church, Midway Baptists, Meldrum Missionary Baptist Church, Providence Baptist Church, East Pineville Baptist Church, Duncans Chapel, Haynes Flat, Central Baptist and Crouches Creek Missionary Baptist Church.

Rev. Hoskins retired from South Central Bell and served his country in the United States Army where he was a master sergeant and he trained in the 11th Airborne Ranger Division and 45th MECZ Calvary.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Rufus and Roseanna Hoskins, baby son Steven Michael Hoskins, brothers, Herbert Hoskins, Asher Hoskins, sisters, Edna Hoskins, Ada Potter, Dorothy Hodge, Doris Douglas and Marylee Hoskins.
He is survived by his wife of sixty five years, Della Mae Hoskins; children, Rev. Randy Ellis (Charlotte) Hoskins of Kenvir, KY, Larkin (Kathy) Hoskins of Powell Valley, TN, Ellis (Connie) Hoskins, Jr. of Rose Hill, VA, Dannie (Tammy) Hoskins of Harrogate, TN; sisters, Bobbie Jean Greene of Bowling Green, KY and Sue Elam of Cleveland, OH; grandchildren, Terina (James) Edington, Angela (Tim) Kincaid, Ellis (Jessica) Hoskins, lll, and Charles Douglas Hoskins, Ashley (Jonathan) Simmons, Wesley Hoskins, Savanna Hoskins, Madison Hoskins, Zachary Hoskins and step-grandson, Jason (Tina) Miracle; nine great-grandchildren, Michael (Erin) Hoskins, Alex Edington, Scott Kincaid, Emily Kincaid, Ellis Hoskins, IV, Asher Hoskins, Avery Simmons, and Clark Bolton.

Funeral services were held Friday, Sept. 30, at the Eagle Rock Missionary Baptist Church with Rev. Tim Huddleston and Rev. Truman Partin officiating.

Music was provided by the Eagle Rock Missionary Baptist Church.

Interment services were held Saturday, Oct. 1, at the Hoskins Family Cemetery in Ewing, VA.

Pallbearers were Ellis Hoskins, III, Wesley Hoskins, Mike Hoskins, Alex Edington, Jonathan Simmons, James Edington, Jason Miracle and Zachary Hoskins.
