Results from Tuesday’s Junior and Senior League district championships
The Corbin Junior League All-Stars are readying themselves for state competition after winning a District 4 championship at Lynn Camp High School Tuesday night.
The Junior Leaguers took a 3-0 lead over North Laurel with them into the bottom of the seventh inning. It appeared as if North might rally, loading the bases and scoring two runs, but Corbin was able to hold on and win by a final score of 3-2.
Next up for the Junior League All-Stars will be a game against either the champions of District 1, or the champions of District 7. That game is scheduled to take place at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, July 12 at Lynn Camp High School.
Your 2015 Corbin Junior League All-Stars are Tanner Moore, Zac Hash, Ethan Wine, Jayson Stancil, Matthew Creekmore, Cole Shelton, Cameron Allen, Caleb VanNorstran, Brodie Skinner, Jacob Gardner, JT Moore and Cameron Bowen.
The Senior League All-Stars were also one win away from qualifying for a state tournament on Tuesday. They led for most of the game, but in the end Hazard was able to take care of business late and come away with the 10-9 win.
With the loss Corbin must now face Hazard again, this time with the winner advancing on to state. The third and final game between the Corbin and Hazard Senior League All-Stars teams is set to take place on Wednesday, July 8 at 6:00 pm at Lynn Camp High School. A District 4 champion will be crowned at the conclusion of this contest.
