Restaurant employee charged with sodomy
A Corbin man is being accused of forcing a 14-year-old girl to give him oral sex in the bathroom of a local restaurant.
Gonzalo Barajas Ramirez, 25, of Ford Avenue in Corbin, has been charged with first-degree sodomy for the incident. He is scheduled to appear before a Knox County grand jury next month and may be indicted.
According to police records, the incident occurred at the Mi Casa Restaurant located in the Tri-County Square Shopping Center in the Knox County section of Corbin. It happened on Oct 3.
Court and police records indicate that Ramirez allegedly followed a 14-year-old female into the women’s bathroom of the restaurant. Once inside, court records state that Ramirez “using physical force, had her to perform oral sex on him.”
On Oct. 19, the victim’s father swore out a warrant for Ramirez over two weeks after the incident allegedly occurred. He was arrested that day at 5:58 p.m. at Mi Casa.
According to jail records, Ramirez posted a $10,000 cash bond on the same day he was arrested.
Corbin Police Capt. Tim Helton, the investigating officer in the case, was tight-lipped about the incident and said an investigation is continuing.
“There’s not much I can say about this one right now.”
Helton confirmed that the incident occurred at Mi Casa and that the suspect was an employee there at the time that it allegedly happened.
Ramirez was scheduled to appear in Knox District Court for a preliminary hearing Tuesday, but did not show.
District Judge Michael O. Caperton issued a warrant for his arrest for failure to appear.
Ramirez had posted a $10,000 cash bond the same day he was originally arrested.
First-degree sodomy is a Class B felony and carries a possible prison term of 10-20 years if a conviction is obtained by prosecutors.
