The Corbin Redhounds outscored the homestanding Middlesboro Yellow Jackets 36-16 in the fourth quarter to win their 10th game of the season, 92-58.
Senior guard Isaac Wilson poured in 26 points to lead the Redhounds while Madison Johnson tossed in 15 points. Aaron Manns added 12 points in the win.
The Redhounds took control of the game from the outset and jumped out to a nine-point lead, 18-9. The Redhounds led 20-11 at the first stop.
Hunter Sizemore helped push the Redhounds in front by 14 points when he connected on back-to-back baskets as Corbin took a 27-13 lead in the game.
However, the Yellow Jackets (3-10) wouldn’t go away as senior Blaine Green cut the Corbin margin to seven (30-23) when he scored his 11th point of the half.
The Redhounds took a 40-29 lead to the dressing room at the half.
Green opened the third quarter with a three-point play and cut the Redhounds lead to eight, 40-32. However, Mann’s helped the Redhounds to a 46-32 margin before Green had back-to-back three point tallies, cutting the lead once again to eight, 46-38.
Corbin outscored the Jackets 10-4 in the final two minutes of the quarter. Taylor Jones hit a three-pointer at the buzzer to put the Redhounds on top, 56-42.
Matthew Taylor gave Corbin its biggest lead of the game on the first basket of the final stanza with a three pointer for a 59-42 lead. A Travis Smith lay-up pushed the lead to 66-45 with 6:25 as the Redhounds began the rout.
Seconds later Wilson went on a seven-point spree and the lead grew to 73-47.
Corbin never looked back and the biggest lead came on a Dominic Timperio basket late in the game to give the Redhounds a 92-57 lead.
Green, who led the Jackets with 24 points, was shut out in the final quarter. He scored 11 of his 13 points when Middlesboro tried to come from behind in the third period.
The Redhounds (10-3) will host the Williamsburg Yellow Jackets in a district contest Friday. It will be part of a boy-girl double-header for the Redhounds and Jackets playing first at 6 p.m.
