Tanner Powers breaks loose for a touchdown in the first quarter of the Redhounds win over McCreary Central.
The Corbin Redhounds scored everytime they had the football Thursday night enroute to a 60-0 win over the McCreary Central Raiders.
The win evened the Redhounds district record to 1-1 and 6-1 overall heading into a big showdown with Bell County next week.
Corbin didn’t waste anytime getting on the scoreboard when Jace Woodruff return a McCreary Central punt 45 yards with 9:30 in the opening quarter.
Five minutes later junior quarterback Corey Taylor went to the left side for a 12-yard run. Taylor hit A.J. Moore on the conversion as Corbin took a 14-0 lead.
Before the quarter was over, Tanner Powers scored from 30 yards out and with six seconds left Taylor Waddle made it 26-0 on a four-yard run. The PAT by Evan Grissell gave the Redhounds a 27-0.
Corbin added three touchdowns in the second period as Waddle scored twice. Waddle scored on a 30-yard run and a 36-yard pass from Taylor with 7:13 left in the half.
Freshman Tucker Jewell scored on the final seconds on a pass from Jaxon Stewart and the Redhounds went to the dressing rooms with a 47-0 lead.
Dylan Brock added a 65-yard touchdown in the third quarter and Drew Carter broke loose for a 65-yard run in the fourth quarter for the final margin.
The shutout was Corbin’s third of the year. The Redhounds currently rank second in Class 3A with an 8.0 average. Second only to South Warren.
