Redhounds Fall to Trinity
"This will be a growing experience," is how Corbin Head Coach Tony Pietrowski summed his team’s loss to visiting Trinity Friday night. "We can now look at some things on film, and in the long run I feel that this will make us a better team. We have to find a way to turn this into a positive."
There were some positives that came out of the 69-37 loss. One is that the Redhounds (3-2) were able to hold their own against a squad that many thought they wouldn’t be able to compete with. The final score may not indicate it, but the Hounds did find ways throughout the game to make plays and score buckets against a team who phyiscally outmatched them, especially in terms of height.
The height factor did hurt Corbin when talking about rebounding, with Trinity snagging nearly twice as many as the Redhounds.
The Shamrocks also were able to pick up 15 points from the free-throw line, compared to Corbin’s five. They also scored twice as many points from behind the arc, twelve to the Hounds’ six.
Pietrowski felt that the team’s strongest asset is their defense. "They make it hard for other teams to do anything offensively," he commented during his post game interview.
Corbin now looks to Tuesday night, when they will travel to take on district rival South Laurel (2-2).
"We are going to come in on Sunday and begin focusing on how we can get that number one seed in the district," said Pietrowski. "Its all going to start Tuesday night at South."
When looking ahead to the big district showdown, Pietrowski said that he feels his team is similar to the Cardinals, and he believes the game could simply come down to who has the better execution.
Tip off time for the Hounds and the Cards is set for 7:30 at South Laurl High School in London.
