Ralph Lyttle
Ralph Lyttle, 86, of Williamsburg, died Thursday, April 27, in an accident.
He was born in Ages, KY on Oct. 30, 1936 to the late Floyd and Ethel (Cummins) Lyttle.
He graduated from Woodbine High School and lived and worked in Cincinnati, OH for many years before moving his family back to Whitley County.
Ralph also served in the Army Reserves. He married the love of his life, Betty Sue (Sutton) Lyttle on July 27, 1958 and they shared 58 years together. He was a member of Shiner Church of Christ where he served faithfully as a teacher, deacon and elder for over 50 years. He and his late wife Betty Sue selflessly opened their home to friends, family and the church hosting countless potlucks, holiday parties and backyard volleyball games.
He was the owner/operator of Lyttle’s Telephone, installing the phone systems of numerous local businesses. He was the voice of many automated answering systems in the area for years. He loved being outdoors, hiking, kayaking, driving his Jeep, mowing and swimming in the pond during warm weather. He was a lifelong UK basketball and Elvis Presley fan. He loved being Papa Bear to his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was a kind, gentle, humble Christian man who loved his family and church family well, setting an example of and leaving a legacy of faith that will be felt for generations.
He is survived by three children, Julie and her husband, Darryl Suddath, of Franklin, TN; Jill and her husband, Mike Lewis, of Williamsburg; and Randy and his wife, Crystal Lyttle, of Corbin; one brother, Raymond and his wife, Judy Lyttle of Clinton, MI; three sisters-in-law, Frankie Coffey and Trish Connatser, both of Williamsburg; Edna and her husband, Wayne Whitus, of Corbin; five granddaughters, Megan and her husband, Chilton Jones, of Florence, KY; Molly and her husband Branson Kinsey, of Durham, NC; Lauren and her husband Jackson Cary, of Columbia, TN; Olivia Suddath of Franklin, TN; and Presley Lyttle of Corbin; four great-grandchildren, Katherine and Marcus Jones and Theo and Hayes Kinsey; as well as many nieces, nephews and other family and friends who mourn his passing.
A Celebration of Life service was Monday, May 1, at Shiner Church of Christ in Williamsburg, Kentucky. Burial followed at the Sutton-Pemberton Cemetery.
Pallbearers were, Chuck Whitus, Tim Coffey, Chilton Jones, Branson Kinsey, Jackson Cary, Eric Jones, Andrew Miller, and Josh Reid.
Honorary pallbearers were longtime friends, Lamar Hamilton, Rex Mobley, A.C. Ward, and Gary Barton.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Shiner Church of Christ food ministry.
