Police unsure why Texas woman went on nude tirade at local motel
Laurel County Sheriff’s deputies say they don’t know what drove a Texas woman to run around a North Corbin hotel naked and then jumped into the pool when confronted by deputies, but determined it was not drugs or alcohol.
According to Sheriff John Root, deputies were called to the Fairfield Inn Sunday afternoon in response to a complaint that Christa Lauren Sloan of San Antonio, Texas, was causing a major disturbance.
“Upon arrival, deputies spotted the suspect in the outside picnic area, totally nude, and ripping the screens out of the poolside windows,” Root stated.
When deputies confronted Sloan, she reportedly began to run from them. Root stated that deputies told Sloan she would be tazed, at which point she turned around and began to raise her hands. However, she turned around and jumped in to the swimming pool.
“She then began floating on her back in the center of the pool and was unresponsive,” Root stated.
Deputy Larry Parrott used a rescue pole to drag Sloan to the side where deputies Mikey Ashurst and Tyler Morris got her out of the water.
Sloan was taken to Baptist Health – Corbin for treatment.
Hotel officials told deputies there had been a series of incidents involving Sloan since she had checked in earlier that day. Sloan had left an iron on in her room placed on top of some plastic bags, which ignited a small fire. She also threw all of the tables, chairs and artificial trees in the pool area into the swimming pool, along with many other items.
According to officials at the Laurel Circuit Court Clerk’s office, no charges have yet been filed in the case.
