Police seek suspects in violent Corbin home invasion robbery

Twenty-one-year-old Dustin Skinner, above, is one of two men being sought by police for a home invasion robbery in Corbin Tuesday.

Whitley County Sheriff Colan Harrell is asking for the public’s help in locating one of two men wanted in connection with a violent home invasion early Tuesday morning that happened just outside the Corbin city limits.

"I would consider him to be armed and dangerous," Harrell said. "It could have turned out a whole lot worse."

Authorities are looking for Dustin L. Skinner, 21, who is 5’10" tall and weighs about 163 pounds. He has hazel eyes, brown hair and is wanted on charges of first-degree robbery and first-degree wanton endangerment.

Anyone with information about Skinner’s whereabouts is asked to contact the Whitley County Sheriff’s Department at 549-6006 during normal business hours or at 549-6017 after hours and on weekends.

The other suspect, who was wearing a ski mask, hasn’t been identified yet.

The break-in happened about 5:37 a.m. at the residence of Mickella Scott, 21, of Dantley Drive in Corbin.

Scott told police that she was awokened by a noise at her back door.

"She got up and was going to her back door when two male subjects kicked in the back door and grabbed her by the throat and told her not to scream or they would blow her brains out," Harrell said.

The man threatening her was armed with a pistol and the other man asked her where her boyfriend was, Harrell said.

"That man went into the bedroom where he confronted Mickella Scott’s boyfriend, Nicholas Burton, 31," Harrell said.

"One intruder struck Burton with the butt of the pistol and put the gun to his head and demanded money, while the other intruder put a stun gun to Burton’s side and stunned him with it causing Burton to go to the floor."

Scott called 911 about 5:42 a.m.

"During all this commotion, she got away and called 911. They saw her leave and the only item that they got was a cell phone," Harrell added.

Scott recognized one of the individuals as Skinner, her distant cousin, Harrell said.

Police would also like to identify the suspect wearing the ski mask and say they aren’t sure why the victims were targeted.
No one was seriously injured during the home invasion.

"The marks left by the stun gun were the only injury thank goodness," Harrell noted.

Deputy Brian Lawson is investigating the case and was assisted at the scene by the Corbin Police Department.
