Police looking for pair who attacked, robbed elderly man in Lily
Laurel County Sheriff’s deputies are seeking the public’s help to find the men who forced an 87-year-old Lily man to the ground outside his residence and took his wallet Monday morning.
According to Sheriff John Root, the robbery occurred about 10:30 a.m. The two men drove up to the house in an off white color short bed pickup truck posing as surveyors.
Deputy Gilbert Acciardo, the department’s public affairs officer, said the men lured the victim outside where they knocked him to the ground.
“They were able to get him to the back of the house where they attacked him,” Acciardo said.
One of the men held the victim down while the other took his wallet that contained cash, at least one credit card and the victim’s identification. The suspects fled the scene in the pickup but the victim was unable to give deputies information about the direction of travel.
The suspects are described as a young white man man with a thin build and a white man in his mid 30’s with a chubby build.
Acciardo said the victim was not injured. The victim’s name and address are being withheld in order to protect him from possible future attacks.
Anyone with information about the robbery is asked to contact the Laurel County Sheriff’s office at 606-864-6600 or 606-878-7000. Callers may remain anonymous.
Detective Charlie Loomis is continuing the investigation.
Acciardo said residents are advised to check the identification of anyone that comes to the door claiming to be from a utility company or other business before opening the door.
