Police investigating theft of heaters from Ross construction site

Corbin Police are investigating the theft of two valuable heaters that were being used at the construction site for the soon-to-open Ross Ready to Wear clothing store at the Trademart Shopping Center.
The incident happened during the late night hours Sunday early-morning hours Monday, said Rob Jones, Public Affairs Officer for the Corbin Police Department.
“They were using them to dry out the area for the purpose of pouring concrete,” said Jones said. “They were large kerosene heaters. They are worth about $1,000 each.”
Jones said nobody appears to have witnessed the crime. The construction area wasn’t completely secured at the time, allowing the thieves to simply walk in and take the heaters.
“It was just kind of a big open area,” Jones said. “I think they are going to try to take some precautions now.”
Officer Wade Mitchell is investigating the theft. Jones said authorities currently have no leads in the case.
Anyone with information about theft of the heaters is encouraged to call Corbin Police at 606-528-1122. All calls can remain anonymous.
