PIGSKIN PICKS
Beginning today I will put my weekend picks on our website for the fans to see and tell you who are panel picked as well.
Danville at Corbin: This will come down to the Redhound defense and whether they allow the Admirals to get off the big plays. Danville, like Clark County, has not only one, but three explosive players in the backfield. The offense is beginning to play better. I’m going with the Redhounds in a close one, 28-26.
Our panel which consists of Bill Crook (12-8), Don Estep (16-4), Trent Knuckles (17-3), Melissa Hudson (14-6), Mark White (12-8) and Dean Manning (12-8) was in favor of Corbin 6-1. We began Pigskin Picks in 2006 and Don won that first year, Trent won in 2007 and since I have been on a roll, winning in 2008, 2009 and was co-champion last year when Don and I tied with a record of 117-32 each.
Pineville at Lynn Camp: I’ve seen both teams play and I would say this is a toss-up game. The Wildcats looked much better against North Laurel then the Lions did against Williamsburg. Lynn Camp is working hard on its offense and getting into the end zone. The Lions just couldn’t move the ball against the Yellow Jackets. With that said, I like the Wildcats in a 22-7 win. Our Pigskin Panel declares Pineville the winner 5-2.
Leslie County at Williamsburg: I don’t know a lot about Leslie County this season. I do know they have been playing together for some time and should have some experienced skill players. Williamsburg is a very young team and can’t afford to overlook the Eagles. Williamsburg holds off Leslie County, 38-32. The Yellow Jackets were a unanimous pick.
Bell County at Whitley Co.: The Colonels take on the tough, highly ranked Bell County football team at Colonels Stadium. The Colonels are young and have taken on two big boys in a row. Davenport and company will be too much for the Colonels, 32-14. Bell County was the pick of the entire panel.
In other area games, Clay County will take down the South Laurel Cardinals, 36-20; North Laurel downs hapless McCreary Central, 32-6, Rockcastle County beats Estill County, 44-6, Knox Central rolls past Gatlinburg-Pittman 42-14.
On the college scene this week, Louisville edges Florida International, 22-21, Kentucky rolls past Central Michigan 34-20, Cumberlands beats UVA-Wise, 48-21 while Western surprises Navy 24-21.
Check out everyone’s picks each Wednesday and play along with us. Hey, you even send me your picks and I will mention them along with ours.
