Phillip Ray Prewitt
Phillip Ray Prewitt, age 72, of Williamsburg, Kentucky departed this life on Saturday, April 2, 2022 at the Laurel Heights in London, Kentucky.
Phillip was born on December 20, 1949 in Williamsburg, Kentucky to the late Herman Prewitt and Cassie (Richardson) Prewitt.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Janice (Fox) Prewitt and brother, Charles Prewitt.
He was a U.S. Army combat veteran serving in Vietnam. He was awarded a Bronze Star with Valor, two Purple Heart, two Army Commendation Medals, 69-70 Wolfhound Member, member and deacon of Grace Baptist Church in Corbin, Kentucky and a member of the Whitley County Cattleman’s Association.
He is survived by three sons, Phillip Ray Prewitt, Jr. (Ann) of Corbin, Kentucky, Steve Brian Prewitt (Amanda) of Richmond, Kentucky, and Timothy Ryan Prewitt (Kristin) of Winchester, Kentucky; eight grandchildren, Dylan Lake, Emily Prewitt, Bryce Prewitt, Brian Joseph Prewitt, Braydon David Prewitt, Micah Ray Isaiah Prewitt, Cassie Camille Prewitt, and Piper Sue Prewitt; one great-granddaughter, Nova Grace Lake; brother, Wayne Prewitt (Jean) of Williamsburg, Kentucky; sister, Cathy Croley (Melvin) of Park City, Kentucky; several nieces and nephews and a host of other family and friends to mourn his passing.
Visitation will be from 5:00 PM until 9:00 PM on Monday, April 4, 2022 at the Croley Funeral Home.
Funeral service will be at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, April 05, 2022 at the Croley Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Bob Jones and Rev. Jarrod Sutton officiating. He will be laid to rest in the Piney Grove Cemetery on Prewitt Bend Road. Pallbearers will be Rich Prewitt, Roger Richardson, David Richardson, Burton Richardson, Michal Richardson, Mark Richardson, Micah Prewitt, Brayden Prewitt, and Brian Prewitt. Honorary pallbearers will be James Adkins, Earl Ayers, John Hall, Larry Daughtery, and Ronnie Stout. Military Honors will be conducted by American Legion Post # 88 of Corbin, Kentucky.
