Pat Allen McClary, Sr
Pat Allen McClary, Sr. went to be with his heavenly Father on Tuesday, December 13, 2022 after a brief illness. He served as President and CEO of UBank from 1975 – 1994, and served as Chairman of the Board until 2020.
Pat faithfully served as a member of the Jellico Community Hospital Board of Directors for many years. He also was a member of the Jellico Kiwanis Club. Pat was instrumental in organizing the Gem City Development Corporation where local investors came together and built a spec building in the industrial park in the hopes of housing a local industry providing jobs for the community.
Pat was the only child of Jacob “Jake” McClary and Sue (Clayton) McClary. He was born in Etowah, Tennessee and moved to Jellico in 1934 when he was five years old when his father, Jake came to work at UBank.
Pat was a 1947 Jellico High School graduate and graduated from Carson Newman College in 1951. He then served in the United States Army in Korea during the Korean War as a radio operator. After working in Chattanooga for 24 years as a banker, he returned to Jellico in 1975 to take over for his dad Jake.
He was a member of First Baptist Church in Jellico, serving as a deacon, trustee and treasurer for many years.
He was dearly loved by his wife of 71 years, Imogene Anderson McClary as well as his three children; six grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren, and he also loved them with all his heart.
His children are Donna Adams and husband Buddy, Diane Brock and husband Denny, and Allen McClary and wife Diane.
His six grandchildren are Matthew McClary, Trey Adams, Deanna Brock Reisman, Jake McClary, Casey Adams, David Brock and 11 great-grandchildren, Myli McClary, Rylee Adams, Cali McClary, Bentley McClary, Easton McClary, Beckham Brock, Ava McClary, Myles Adams, Brock Reisman, Nora Brock and Evie McClary.
For those who wish to make donations in lieu of flowers, the family asks that they be made to First Baptist Church Jellico or Springs of Life in memory of Pat.
Funeral service is Friday, December 16, at 6:00 PM at the First Baptist Church in Jellico with Dr. Robert Dunston officiating. Visitation will be at 4:00 PM until the funeral hour at 6:00 PM. Interment will be Saturday, December 17 at 11:00 AM at the Jellico Cemetery.
