One killed in late-night house fire on Brooks Road
A late-night fire on Brooks Road, in rural Whitley County, proved deadly Wednesday, and investigators are trying to determine exactly what caused the blaze.
At least one person was killed in the fire, which started at the home around 10:00 p.m. Wednesday night. Members of the Woodbine and Oak Grove Volunteer Fire Departments responded to the scene, but the home was a total loss.
Whitley County Coroner Andy Croley was called to the scene. At least one person perished in the blaze, but the identity of the person has not yet been released. According to published reports, a man in his 60s lived alone a the residence.
Investigators and fire officials remained at the home until early Thursday morning.
