No more parking on Corbin’s Main Street?
Traffic flow and the potential effect that the removal of the parking spaces on Main Street may have on it was debated during Monday’s regular meeting of the Corbin City Commission.
While the commission took no action on the matter, the members discussed the possibility of removing some or all of the parking spaces, asking the state transportation cabinet to adjust the timing on the five traffic lights between Fifth and Gordon streets, and/or the installation of the proposed bumpouts near the intersections in an effort to slow down the flow of traffic in what is posted as a 25 mph zone.
Commissioner Andrew Pennington, who operates a business out of a downtown storefront, said most people would agree traffic on Main Street is a problem, but everyone has a different idea on how to solve it.
