New principal announced at Rockholds Opportunity Center
Whitley County’s alternative school now has a new leader.
Superintendent Scott Paul announced Friday that Terry Huddleston would be assuming the duties as principal at the Rockholds Opportunity Center.
"Mr. Huddleston brings many years of experience as an educational leader at the secondary level that will be of great benefit to our students at the Opportunity Center," Paul said.
Huddleston replaces former Principal Steve Powers, who transferred to Oak Grove Elementary School as the new assistant principal.
Huddleston, a Whitley County native, began his teaching career at Whitley County High School in 1992 as a social studies teacher and has taught both United States and World History for the past 19 years.
He also served in various leadership roles, such as head of the social studies department and as a member of the Whitley County High School Site Based Decision Making council for eight years.
His plans for the Rockholds Opportunity Center include building on its current strengths.
"I want the students to feel welcome and secure in a positive environment which is conducive to learning. I will work collaboratively with all stakeholders to ensure that we’re providing students with internal and external opportunities so that they can be successful in life," Huddleston said.
"Mr. Powers’ is an outstanding role model and has had a visible impact in the lives of the students that he works with each day."
Huddleston is married to Jodi Huddleston a science teacher at Whitley County High School, and he is the proud father of Elissa, Jordin, Jezni and Tanner.
