Monroe Roberts
Monroe Roberts, 79, of Corbin, passed away Sunday, August 28, 2016 at Hill Crest Nursing Home in Corbin.
Monroe was born February 27, 1937 in Big Pine N.C. to the late Bob and Ruby Roberts. He served in the Army 1960-1964 and was active member of the American Legion in Michigan and Ky. He worked at Wayndotte Cement and Peerless Cement in Michigan and Journeyman at Millwright. He was also a member of the United Steelworkers of America.
He was preceded in death not only by his parents but by his sister Dianna Roberts and brother Henry Roberts.
He is survived by of his wife of 55 years Barbara Sevier Roberts of Corbin, five children: Deborah Roberts of Marshall, N.C., Gary Roberts wife Terri of Lincoln Park Mi., Reitha Wells husband Bobby of Corbin, Lisa Roberts of Corbin, Jerry Roberts wife Renea Lexington, three sisters Alice Franklin of Tn., Wanda Sutton of Tn., and Nancy Johnson of N.C., one brother Gerald Roberts wife Gail of N.C. and one sister-in-law Terri Roberts and thirteen grandchildren Jason, Wesley, Melissa, Mike, Tonya, Lyle, Rachel, Michelle, Debbie, Brittney, Josh, Delia, and Gabi. and nineteen great-grandchildren and several nieces, nephews, family and friends to mourn his passing.
Funeral services were held Thursday, September 1, at the O’Neil-Lawson Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Earl S. Tye officiating with burial being held Friday, September 2, at the McHargue Cemetery in Lily with the American Legion Post 88 performing military honors.
