Missing man leaves few clues behind
It has been nearly a year since a Gatliff man was reported missing, and state police say aside from a letters reporting that the man is supposedly “traveling”, no one has heard from him.
Kentucky State Police Detective Colan Harrell said Roger Burton Sasko was last seen in the Gatliff area of Whitley County during the first week of November 2003.
“Right now we are still trying to locate Roger,” Harrell said. “We just don’t know what has happened to him that is what we are trying to determine.”
Harrell said relatives have gotten some letters reportedly from Sasko, but that the authenticity of the letters is in question.
“The content of the letters – without getting specific – pretty much say what you want to hear, such as where he’s at. It answers the questions for you,” Harrell noted.
Harrell said the letters report that Sasko is traveling, but they bore a Lexington postmark.
He said it has been several months since a new letter arrived.
Sasko is 6′ and weighs 170 pounds. He has light brown, graying hair, blue eyes, a medium complexion, and medium build.
Harrell said Sasko lived near Ky. 904 in the Gatliff area, and no one has seen him since late last year. He said it is unusual for Sasko to stay out of touch with his family for this long.
“If anybody has seen him or talked to him since the first week of November 2003, I would like for them to contact either myself or Trooper Bill Elliott,” Harrell said.
Anyone with information concerning the case is asked to contact either Harrell or Elliott at the state police post in London at (606) 878-6622.
