Mildred Miles

Mildred Miles was born February 26, 1926 and departed this life on July 21, 2018 at her home in Williamsburg being 92 years of age.

She was a hardworking, loving and compassionate woman, who loved everyone and everyone loved her as well.

She always put God first and her family and friends a close second. She was a Sunday school teacher at her church in Warren, MI where her and her husband lived until 1994.

They moved to Williamsburg, where they lived out the rest of there 61 years of marriage together. She attended the Apostolic Lighthouse Church in Williamsburg and was a member until she went home to be with the Lord.

She is preceded in death by her husband George Miles, of Williamsburg; parents, Albert and Cordelia Smith; children, Tommy Woodall and Sandra Faye Justice; sisters, Truly Smith (Charles Lawson), Myrtle (Fannie) Shultz (Ed Shultz), Vernie Lawson and Jewel Smith.

She is survived by her grandchildren, Veta Michelle Tiemann (Darren Tiemann) of Fountain City, zin, Windy Sue Woodall (Astyn) of Williamsburg and Wendell Clayton Woodall of Williamsburg; great grandchildren; Jaclyn Nicole Hayes (Chris) of Williamsburg, IN, Heather Brooke Tiemann of Richmond, IN, Kathryn Lynn Woodall of London and Blake Woolum of London; two great great grandchildren, Addisyn Grace Hayes and expectant Lucas Tyler Hope; son-In-law Charles Justice and numerous nieces, nephews, friends and family.

I’m sure many people have wonderful memories about Mildred. She was the kind of person that no one could help but love. A few memories that her grandchildren wanted to share was about their summers in Michigan with both of their grandparents. They would always spoil Veta, Windy and Wendell, and take them shopping to grocery stores and there would be a heaping cart full of ice cream, candy and any kind of junk food a child ever dreamed of. She would take them to the strawberry patch so Mildred could make homemade strawberry shortcake, unfortunately for Mildred, she was the only one putting strawberries in the baskets as the three grandchildren put them in their mouths. She was a beloved grandma and will surely be missed by all.

Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until the funeral hour on Thursday, July 26, at Croley Funeral Home.

The funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, July 26, at the Croley Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Jim Roark and Rev. Danny Powers officiating.

Following the service she will be laid to rest in the Whitley Memorial Gardens.
