MIDDLE SCHOOL ALL-STARS

For two upcoming eighth graders at Williamsburg Middle School, football season will begin this week the Kentucky Future Stars Camp at Eastern Kentucky University. The two were chosen for the camp after an open tryout back in April that saw 300 boys fight it out for 45 spots on the two all-star teams.
Austin Huskey and Alex Patterson headed to EKU Tuesday for the 3-day camp. The camp will end with the Kentucky-Tennessee All-Star Game at Carson-Newman College, Saturday along with a Friday night banquet.
“There will be a lot of football during that time,” said State Director and founder, Ricco Hughes of Louisville. “They will have a lot of fun, but there is some hard work involved,”
At the banquet the players will be treated with talks from some current NFL players. “I’m really excited,” said Patterson.
Huskey led Williamsburg’s seventh grade on defense last year with 48 tackles. He rushed the football for 245 yards and scored twice for the Jackets. He was selected to the Mountain Middle School Conference First Team on defense.
“We believe the coaching and skills training will allowed these young athletes to capitalize from the momentum created by the Kentucky Future All Star event,” said Hughes. “Our goal is to identify the best current 7th and 8th grade football players in the state of Kentucky. We want to take the best athletes into Tennessee this year and create exposure for our underrated football athletes of the state of Kentucky.”
Kentuckiana Prep Sports was founded in 2006 in Louisville Kentucky with the purpose of helping student athletes fulfill their dreams of competing in athletics at the collegiate level. ?
The all-star game will be played at Carson-Newman College in Jefferson City, Tn. The 7th grade game will begin at 4 p.m., followed by the eight-grade contest against the Volunteers.
