Matt Kenseth’s NASCAR show car to be featured at Saturday Cruise-in
Gear up and fasten your seatbelts, it’s Hot Rod Rally month at the Cumberland Valley Cruise-In, with special guest, the number 20 Matt Kenseth NASCAR show car.
The cruise will take place in downtown Corbin on July 9, where NASCAR fans will be able to ogle the number 20 car in the center of Nibroc Park.
The cruise is set to last between 4 -8 p.m. that evening. Car fanatics of all sorts are more than welcome to bring, what they believe, is a hot rod. Displaying a vehicle and/or admission to the event is free.
Cars in attendance will include classics, muscle cars, new cars and more. Chris McQueen, an organizer of the event, said he’s seen everything from motorcycles to racing lawnmowers at the cruises.
“If it has wheels, we’ll take it,” said McQueen.
Hillview Stables will be returning to the Cruise-In again this month to offer children and their families train rides around 6 p.m. The train ride will take riders up and down Main Street, which will be shut down to traffic for the safety of those in attendance.
Also to take place at the cruise will be a variety of games, which are open to everyone who wishes to participate. McQueen says you do not have to have a car registered to play.
The ever-popular “corn-hole” will be just one of the games attendants can participate in. There will also be automotive, car style games, such as the fan belt game. McQueen says the fan belt game is very similar to horse-shoes, it just has that car themed twist.
There will also be a scavenger hunt throughout Main Street, which is an event coordinated by Maggy Kriebel for the tourism commission. The scavenger hunt is family friendly, and participants of all ages are welcome.
There will also be prizes for winners of the games and scavenger hunt, according to both McQueen and Kriebel. Car owners and event patrons can also register to win a gift basket worth around $200.
According to their Facebook page, this is the 15th year that the Cumberland Valley Cruise-In has taken place.
“It’s the longest running cruise in Southeastern Kentucky,” said McQueen.
This is the second to last Cruise-In of the year. The final event is scheduled to occur at Cumberland Falls on October 1.
