Mary Elizabeth Wells and Marty Allen united in marriage
Mary Elizabeth Wells, daughter of Alvin and Donna Wells, London, and Marty Allen, son of Mr. and Mrs. Joe Allen, Hazard, Kentucky, were united in marriage May 20, at 6:30 p.m., at Locust Grove Church of Christ, Keavy, Ky. Minister Jerry R. Brown performed the ceremony.
Nuptial music was performed on piano by Earlene Vance, Jill Stidham and Zachary Sizemore, cousins of the bride, sang “The Lord’s Prayer,” acappella, and Joe Allen, father of the groom, sang “I’ll Walk With God.”
Gayle Zipay, sister of the bride, was matron of honor. Bridesmaids were Laurinda Allen, sister of the groom, Beth Parrish Cook and Stephanie Zipay, niece of the bride.
The bridesmaids wore floor length periwinkle blue gowns and carried long stem white roses and delphinium on a bed of flat ferns.
Naomi Allen, niece of the groom, and Nikki Wells and Emily Zipay, nieces of the bride, were flower girls. Deavon Wells, cousin of the bride, attended the guest book.
Jody Allen, brother of the groom, served as best man. Groomsmen were Randall Deaton, Wesley Denny, and Jonathan Hensley, cousin of the bride.
The head usher was Herschel Dale Wells, brother of the bride, Jason Cheek, Michael Cheek, Michael Littlefield, Jamon Terrell, Sam Terrell, and Mark Wells, cousins of the bride, were ushers. Michael K. Zipay, nephew of the bride, assisted the ushers.
A dinner and dance followed the ceremony at the London Community Center.
Mrs. Allen is a 1999 graduate of South Laurel High School and a 2002 graduate of the University of Kentucky. She is currently employed by The Courier Journal while she continues her education as a graduate student at the University of Louisville.
Dr. Allen is a 1993 graduate of Buckhorn High School, a 1997 graduate of Cumberland College and a 2001 graduate of the University of Louisville School of Medicine. He is currently employed by the University of Louisville as he continues his training with the Division of Infectious Disease.
After a wedding trip to Marco Island, the Allens are making their home in Louisville, Kentucky.
