Mary E. Perkins
Mary E. (Catron) Perkins, age 81, of Cane Creek Road Williamsburg, Kentucky departed this life on Saturday, August 21, 2021 at the Williamsburg Health and Rehabilitation in Williamsburg, KY. She was born on November 30, 1938 at her home on Cane Creek to the late Charles Edward and Hazel (Alley) Catron. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her daughter Meleesha Perkins Hooper and brother Dr. Frank Catron.
She is survived by her husband of over 61 years, Mitchell Perkins Sr.; two daughters, Malana Sizemore and husband Shawn of Somerset, KY. and Muneeka Halcomb and husband David of Williamsburg, KY; two sons, Markus Perkins and wife Vickie of Somerset, KY, and Mitchell Perkins Jr. and wife Breonia of Williamsburg, KY; seven grandchildren, Mary Elizabeth Grace Perkins, Hannah Isabella Faith Perkins, Clay Perkins and wife Deanna, Markus Perkins and wife Sydney, Reece Halcomb, Jinna Hooper, Austin Hooper and wife Caitlyn; three great-grandchildren, Josef Perkins, Jaxon Perkins and Reed Levi Perkins; one brother, Charles (Chuck) Catron and wife Darlene of Williamsburg, KY; special friends Terrell Sutton of Cynthiana, KY; several nieces and nephews and a host of other family and friends to mourn her passing.
Mary was a member of the Eastern Star Venus Chapter serving as the Worthy Matron. Current member of the Mountain Ash Baptist Church and past member of the Little Cane Creek Baptist Church. She graduated from Pleasant View High School, Cumberland College and Union College. She was a longtime educator in the Whitley County Board of Education for over 27 years. Mrs. Mary had a unique teaching experience, teaching many of her years in a one room school house (K-8th grade) Wolf Creek, Kentucky Hill, Hanging Rock, Mountain Ash, Cane Creek, and Pleasant View. Mary retired from the classroom finishing her career at Pleasant View Elementary.
The family will receive friends after 6:00 P.M. on Wednesday, August 25, at the Mountain Ash Baptist Church
The funeral service will be held at 1:00 P.M. Thursday, August 26, at the Mountain Ash Baptist Church with Rev. Billy Carpenter and Rev. David Halcomb officiating. Following the service she will be laid to rest in the Moses Addition – Pleasant View Cemetery Cemetery in Williamsburg, KY.
