March Madness
March Madness is in full swing. The Corbin Redhounds are headed to the National City/KHSAA Sweet 16 for the 13th time in the history of its basketball program. The Redhounds captured the title in 1936. Their last trip came just four years when the beat Lone Oak in the opening-round. Andrew Parks and Jordan Noble led that team to the win. Parks is a junior playing for Bellarmine, who is headed to the NCAA Division II Tournament as the Midwest Region’s number two seed. Noble is a junior at Asbury College, the Eagles will represent the Mid-East Region in Oakland City, Indiana, March 19-21.
The Wildcats lost in the SEC Tournament this afternoon to the LSU Tigers and now have to wait and see if they will get bid to the NCAA Tournament. The ‘Cats have 20 wins against some good competition. I think the Wildcats are in.
My favorite team, the Louisville Cardinals, need a win tonight if they hope to get a number one seed in the NCAA Tournament. With Pittsburgh and UConn going out in the quarterfinals, it opens the door for the Cardinals to get one of the four number one seeds.
Sunday is selection Sunday, I know I will have my eyes to the TV to see where Louisville, Western, my alum mater, Morehead and hopefully, Kentucky will be going for the tournament.
Then Wednesday, it’s off to Rupp Arena and the KHSAA “Sweet 16”.
