Man suffers gunshot wound near 312 boat dock in Corbin Sunday morning

A Laurel County man suffered a gunshot wound Sunday morning near the Hwy. 312 boat ramp in Corbin, and police are still trying to ascertain exactly what led to the shooting.
The incident was reported about 10:45 a.m. According to Whitley County Sheriff’s Deputy Ron Bowling, dispatch centers in Laurel County, Corbin and Whitley County were notified that a man was lying in the roadway with a gunshot wound.
Bowling said he responded just after Corbin Police found the man lying in the highway with a gunshot wound to his right forearm. Corbin officers Steve Meadors and Jeff Hill were the first to arrive on the scene. The man, who’s identity has not been released, was parked in a popular spot near the roadway. People often walk down from there to swim or fish in the lake.
"He first gave the impression that he had walked up to his vehicle and somebody was messing around in it, trying to break in or something. He said he got up there and got in a confrontation and the guy shot him in the right arm," Bowling said.
Bowling said a clear blood trail actually started near the woodline and veered into the roadway.
"Who knows what happened," Bowling said. "He wasn’t giving much information beyond that. The incident he’s reporting doesn’t correlate with what evidence is laying there."
Ambulance personnel arrived quickly and stopped the man’s bleeding. He was transported to Baptist Regional Medical Center for treatment. Authorities do not believe the wound to be life-threatening.
Corbin Police, Whitley and Laurel County Sheriff’s deputies, along with Kentucky State Police all responded to the scene. KSP is investigating the case.
Authorities did a ground search of the area but were unable to find the weapon involved in the shooting. The man told police the shooter fled shortly after the incident.
"Everybody up there cleared out when the police arrived," Bowling said. "It was a good Samaritan that was going into town on 312 that found him in the road and offered assistance."
Officials with Kentucky State Police Post 11 confirmed they are investigating the shooting but would not provide further information. Det. Mark Allen is leading the investigation.

Maybe the earth is just a big peep show. When God is feeling a little deviant he just peers right down and takes a peek. Corbin is probably one of his best channels; it is full of bigots, liars, cheaters, closet fags & lesbians. Actually instead of bothering with 312 its much simplier to join one of the local churches. That way its just like going to a buffet dinner; buffet of sin that is.
Thats just my opinion.
The man got shot under suspicious cricumstances. Coincidently he was at Laurel Lake. That does not mean that he was homosexual. Yes 312 has the reputation, but there are “straight” people who live and/or play in that area. Stop jumping to conculsions and wait for the follow up on this story.
To the person that made the suggestion about putting someone to watch that’s the best idea I’ve heard yet. but if you find out it is legal count me in. I’ve wondered about what you said. The law can’t be everywhere at once.
I feel like it is the churches place to go out to 312 and protest what goes on there, not in a hostel way but, In such a way to let the gays know the people of corbin aren’t
going to put up with it.

I think we need something like a neighborhood watch maybe at he boat dock. It has gotten such a bad reputation for being infested by gay men and there is just not enough police to do anything about it. Its like roaches up there every where you turn there is a gay man swinging his thing around or whatever. Maybe we could patrol in groups and run them off when we find them. How do we get approval for something like this? Is it legal?
for Sunshine- I find it refreshing for people to really say what they think. No one is judging the guy shot, but more than likely he was in an area that is known for bad activity and was shot. There was nothing wrong with what anyone has said except for Eric- his comment was completely stupid in my opinion. Gay people are not the Lord’s people in most cases or they would try to change their ways. The Lord would prefer they not be gay because it is harmful to their health, life etc. He would also prefer us not to be liars and adulters and hopefuly if we are the Lord’s people we would want to change our ways too. But there is nothing wrong with anyone calling it what things are.

Angela I think you are right on about this. The place has just become infested with gays and when you have that much immoral activity going on you are bound to have some violence once in a while. The police need to do something to clean it up.
Eric, did you not read my post? I said all people, not just homosexuals, if your reading comprehension is that low, you might consider a remedial course. The 312 boat dock has a well deserved reputation for illegal activities of all sorts; drugs, sexual activity, public drunks, it’s just that the homosexuals have put it on the map as an area for unsavory activities and ruining it for families.

To Jean Valjean and Angela, how do you get any “HOMO”, out of this story, the shooting didn’t happen at 312 boat ramp, or the park area, it happened across the lake on the Laurel Co. side where ppl. park and walk down to the lake to go swimming and jump off the three sister’s rock! It’s because of idiot’s like you two that everything that happen’s at that lake is some how “HOMO” related. I am at a loss to understand the moral depravity of people, I’m not just talking about homosexuals, although they do have a well developed reputation for public indecency, just all people nowadays have no sense of shame. I also have a question, didn’t the police just try to clean out that cesspool?
To Norma. The reason the the paper got the story so quickly is because they monitor the police depts radio calls. They have a police scanner just like the tow truck drivers and others who make a living from crime and accidents. I’m not saying it’s wrong it’s just a fact. And I guess if I was a tow truck operator I would have one too. That’s how they get to a wreck so fast. The first one to arrive is usually the winner and get to tow the car and usually it’s Wallens. They have a lot of trucks and are all over the place and they usually make 50-100 per tow depending on the distance and storage.
And in response to your comments about Gay men being violent you are very Correct. Gay people women included are unstable and when they break up they are devastated. Just look at the Gay pride parades on TV, who in their right mind would dress up in the garb they wear? They aren’t in their right mind. And if the truth be known, there are many homo’s in Corbin. It’s an epidemic not a way of life.

The News Journal was on this one quick. How do they get this stuff so fast? I just heard about it from a neighbor then someone said it was on the internet. The whole thing does sound fishy like maybe the guy isnt telling police the truth or not all the truth anyway. That are is a bad area for bad people to hang out like gay men and people like that so it is untelling what happened. May have been a gay fight not saying it was but that is possible. Gay men are very violent when the disagree.

This place is notorious for homo activity. There have been many prominent people from Corbin who have been arrested or caught on video in that area. Including a man who works for one of the newest banks in Corbin. Homo’s are very unstable people and this guy may have tried to solicit the wrong person and he turned around and shot him. So get real people, Homo’s exist in Corbin, in fact if you check the internet you can see that the 312 area is on the top of the list for wild encounter. There was a man named Mike Kennedy recently arrested for exposing his groin and rear end through his shorts.
Watch out for Homo’s in Corbin, Fag$#@ts are every where.
