Firefighters from West Knox used the Jaws of Life to free a man trapped when his car collided with the back of a log truck Wednesday afternoon.
The man, whose name and age were not immediately available, was northbound on U.S. 25E when he approached the truck, that was also northbound.
Witnesses said the truck was only traveling around 20 miles per hour, and that the car driver apparently did not realize how slow the truck was traveling.
The driver of the car was unable to avoid hitting the back of the truck.
The car was partially underneath the truck and the driver was trapped. Other motorists assisted the driver until EMS and rescue crews arrived. Northbound traffic was blocked for nearly an hour as crews worked to free the trapped driver.
