Man in critical condition after shooting self Friday night
A local man is in critical condition today after firing a gun into a Williamsburg apartment complex Friday night, then turning the gun on himself.
Police say that Kenneth Smith was airlifted to the University of Tennessee Medical Center following the incident. Williamsburg authorities responded to a call of shots fired at the apartment complex, located on Cumberland Ave., and arrived to find Smith holding a .22 caliber rifle. It is believed he fired at least one shot into the apartment of his girlfriend, Jackie Rich, slightly injuring here.
Police talked with Smith for a period of time and believed him to be intoxicated. Eventually, he pointed the gun at himself and fired a round through his chin.

SO, the cops were there, and talking to a man with a 22 rifle and what?, they saw a dead possum to distract them long enough for the perp to maneuver a RIFLE under his chin and try to off himself with it? Great police work. Really Awesome.
cumberland ave apts. that’s all they call it here.
Anyone know what apartment complex this happened at? The article fails to mention it…
