Man assaulted over ‘pill money’
A Corbin woman has pleaded not guilty to a charge that she pushed a man and hit him with his cane in December.
Forty-three-year-old Angela M. Moore is being held in the Knox County Detention Center following her arrest last Thursday morning on the warrant charging her with one count of second-degree assault.
Moore was taken into custody at her residence on Wilson Street by Corbin Police Lt. Jason Moore.
According to the warrant, the affiant, Alfredo Cisneros, claims that on Dec. 12, Moore pushed him in the chest, knocking him to the ground. Moore allegedly grabbed Cisneros’ cane and attempted to strike him in the head with it. Cisneros was able to get his hands up to avoid being hit in the head. However, Moore’s blows allegedly struck him in the hands.
“This all happened because Cinsneros would not give the offender $400 to buy pills,” the warrant states.
Moore is scheduled to return to Knox District Court Tuesday for a preliminary hearing to determine whether there is probable cause to present the case to a grand jury.
Moore remains in the Knox County Detention Center on a $25,000 cash bond.
Moore declined to comment on the charge.
Under Kentucky Law, second-degree assault is a Class C felony, carrying a potential prison sentence of five to ten years.
