Man arrested for urinating on Arena sign, trying to attack officers with feces covered hands
A local man faces numerous criminal charges following an alleged drunken rampage Tuesday evening that started when he urinated on the sign that marks the entrance of The Arena in Corbin.
Forty-eight-year-old Michael Roy Alsip, of Corbin, was charged with disorderly conduct, alcohol intoxication, menacing, resisting arrest, indecent exposure and four charges of third-degree assault following the alcohol-fueled tirade.
According to Corbin Police, Alsip left Applebee’s in south Corbin at around 6:30 p.m. and was spotted urinating on The Arena sign and on the sidewalk. When officers John Hill and Rob Hodge approached him, he began spitting on them. He was quickly placed under arrest.
Once inside a holding cell at the police department, he defecated and rubbed his hands in the feces, then tried to touch officers with his feces covered hands.
"We’ve arrested him for alcohol intoxication a bunch of times, but this was kind of crazy," said Sgt. Rob Jones, Public Affairs Officer for the Corbin Police Department. "I don’t think he got that drunk at Applebee’s. He drinks all the time."
Alsip was taken to the Whitley County Detention Center, but officials there refused to lodge him because, according to Jones, he claimed he was allergic to alcohol.
"We had to bring him back to Corbin and take him to the hospital and get a doctor to release him and say he was just drunk," Jones said. "The doctor said he was fine so they took him then."
Alsip is currently lodged in the Whitley County Detention Center on a $20,000 cash bond.
