Man arrested for burglarizing Corbin BP station

Gary Wright
Corbin Police have arrested and charged a man who they say broke into the BP Station on 18th Street early Tuesday morning and caused significant damage to the store.
Gary Wright, 27, of Corbin, was taken into custody Tuesday at the residence of Misty Hubbard on Seventeenth Street. Police say he had been staying there.
Wright has been charged with third-degree burglary and was lodged in the Whitley County Detention Center.
Major Rob Jones, the department’s public affairs officer, said the burglary occurred at 3:33 a.m. when Wright smashed the glass in the front door to get inside and made off with undisclosed items.
“With the damage and the stolen stuff, it came to about $1,300,” Jones said, adding police don’t know what he used to smash the glass.
The store’s surveillance system captured the burglar on tape.
When questioned about the suspect, Jones said the store owners said they knew him as, “Gary.” Officers Received an anonymous tip that a suspect matching the description of the person who burglarized the business was staying with a woman on Seventeenth Street.
“They said he is in there buying beer all the time,” Jones said.
