Main Squeeze Lemonade Stand Contest being held Friday in downtown Williamsburg
Williamsburg’s first new event of the year is coming Friday, and if you like lemonade, it may be just the event for you.
The Main Squeeze Lemonade Stand Contest is coming to the Green Space on Main from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., where enterprising young citizens will be vying for the title of Williamsburg’s “Main” Squeeze. While the stands are expected to have lemonade available for those in attendance, the competition is specifically for the best decorated stand.
Contestants must be 12 years of age or under.
All lemonade served during the event must be made at home beforehand and brought to the site due to health department regulations. However, ice or garnishes can be added to the cups while at the event.
Cups will be provided to contestants, though you may bring your own.
Those wishing to compete must register beforehand. To register for the event, contact Williamsburg Main Street Manager Jonathan Wyatt at (606) 280-0872. The deadline to register is Friday at noon.
Wyatt said there will be specific criteria for judging of the stands and urged those who compete to “be creative.”
Following the contest will be the season’s first Movie in the Park at Bill Woods Park. The new Super Mario Bros. animated film will be showing during the event, which will begin at dusk.
In the case of inclement weather, the contest will be postponed until the next Movie in the Park on July 14.
