Local teen to be featured on Times Square billboard
Corbin High School freshman Karlee Dickerson is no stranger to the spotlight. At just 14 years of age, she has already built quite a resume, including several local and statewide pageant wins. Most recently, she was recognized by Supermodels Unlimited Magazine as Miss Teen Kentucky.
In addition to this honor, Supermodels Unlimited has also selected Dickerson in their “Top 50 Models” contest, meaning she is going to appear along with other contest winners on a Times Square billboard in New York City.
“I am so excited, and grateful for this opportunity,” Dickerson said. “I’ve never been to New York, but I have seen Times Square on TV while watching the ball drop for New Year. It is crazy to think that I will get to be on a billboard there, and I am just so thankful for the opportunity.”
The billboard featuring Dickerson and the other models will be visible during the upcoming Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade, and will be displayed into the month of December as well.
When asked what she enjoys most about modeling, Dickerson explained, “I enjoy it because of the experience that it provides. I have learned so much, and met so many people in the short amount of time that I have been modeling. The experiences, places and people have all been amazing.”
As for what she hopes to accomplish in the future, Dickerson said, “I plan on going to cosmetology school,” saying she has learned many makeup and hair styling techniques through her modeling work that she believes will give her an advantage in the field.
Speaking of makeup, Dickerson was also recently selected to name a special line of lip gloss from Couture. The gloss, called “Karlee’s Angels” is available for purchase now, and anyone interested should contact Dickerson’s mother, Rachel, for more info. As Dickerson continues to work towards making a name for herself in the modeling world, she is appreciative of the continued support from the Corbin community, saying, “I appreciate all of the support from my hometown, and my family. I hope that I can make everyone who has supported me proud!”
