Local Silver Star recipient leaves behind family legacy of honor, service

The 68-year-old Harris, who died Jan. 27, served one tour of duty in Vietnam in 1969. While serving with the 4^th Battalion, 3^rd Infantry Division, Harris was awarded the Army’s Silver Star medal for actions he took while his company was in combat near Go Rieng
