Local schools and community partner, receive $40,000 Early Childhood Healthy Living grant

Corbin Independent Schools, in partnership with Whitley County Schools, Whitley County Health Department and Williamsburg Independent Schools, is excited to announce that they have received the Early Childhood Healthy Living Program grant from Kentucky Public Health in the amount of $40,000.

The funds provided by the grant will be used to purchase substance abuse prevention curricula, allow training for certified Youth Mental Health First Aid providers and Green Dot training.

Martha Steele, Whitley County Health Department Director, stated, “The Whitley County Health Department is excited to partner with the school systems in Whitley County to promote the health of our students. Together we will make a difference in our most important resource, our children!”

“This is a great opportunity for our county. We will be able to provide students in multiple school districts life-long services including Mental Health First Aid as well as give them access to information about substance abuse prevention,” said Mark Daniels, Director of Support Services for Corbin Independent Schools.
