Local residents make President’s List, Dean’s List at numerous colleges, universities
Several college and university students with local ties have been honored for their hard work in the classroom by being named to their school’s Dean’s List or President’s List.
Belmont University
Jaylen Gambrell of Williamsburg qualified for the Spring 2022 Dean’s List at Belmont University. Eligibility is based on a minimum course load of 12 hours and a quality grade point average of 3.5 with no grade below a C.
Located two miles from downtown Nashville, Tennessee, Belmont University consists of nearly 8,800 students who come from every state and 33 countries.
Berea College
More than 430 Berea College students were named to the Spring 2022 Dean’s List, including Cadan Bowling and Samuel Garr of Corbin. A student is named to the Dean’s List who achieves a GPA of 3.4 or higher while passing at least four total credits, a course load equivalent to 16 semester hours.
Berea, the first interracial and coeducational college in the South, focuses on learning, labor, and service. Supported by Berea’s “No-Tuition Promise,” Berea College admits only academically promising students with limited economic resources, primarily from Appalachia. All students must work 10 hours or more weekly, earning money for books, room and board.
Harding University
Carson Hayes of Corbin, a senior studying biochemistry, is among more than 1,200 Harding University students included on the Dean’s List for grades achieved during the Spring 2022 semester.
The dean’s list is published each semester by Dr. Marty Spears, university provost, honoring those who have achieved high scholarship. To be eligible, a student must be carrying 12 or more hours with a 3.65 or higher grade-point average and no incompletes.
Harding University is a private Christian, liberal arts university located in Searcy, Arkansas. Accredited by the Higher Learning Commission, it is the largest private university in the state. Harding’s student body represents students from across the U.S. and more than 50 nations and territories.
Lincoln Memorial University
Lincoln Memorial University (LMU) has announced the Dean’s List for the spring semester of 2022. To be placed on the Dean’s List, the student must be a full-time undergraduate student and have a 3.5 or higher, grade point average for the semester. The following students were recognized with over 500 of their peers, including: Corbin’s Chelsea Asher, Zachary Hash, Seth Kirby, Shala Mays, Andrew McDaniel, and Lucy Sadler, and Williamsburg’s Kelsey Connell and Christa Smith.
Lincoln Memorial University is a values-based learning community dedicated to providing educational experiences in the liberal arts and professional studies. The main campus is located in Harrogate, Tennessee.
Midway University
Midway University is pleased to announce the students who have been named to its Dean’s List for the 2022 Spring Semester. To be named to the list, a student must be classified as full-time and obtain a 3.60 grade point average for the semester. There were 326 students who made the Dean’s List, including: Katie Ingle and Taylor Petrey, both of Corbin; Jennifer Dones of Boston; and Jayla Jones of Lily.
Midway University is a private, co-educational institution located in Woodford County and part of the greater Lexington, Kentucky area.
Southern New Hampshire University
Southern New Hampshire University (SNHU) has announced that three local students were named to the Winter 2022 President’s List, including: Williamsburg’s Jessica Rastelli, and Corbin’s Matthew Hensley and Kayla Kersey.
Full-time undergraduate students who have earned a minimum grade-point average of 3.70 and above are named to the President’s List. Full-time status is achieved by earning 12 credits; undergraduate day students must earn 12 credits in the fall or spring semester, and online students must earn 12 credits over two consecutive terms.
Southern New Hampshire University is a private, nonprofit institution with an 89-year history of educating traditional-aged students and working adults.
University of Kentucky
The University of Kentucky has released its Dean’s List for the Spring 2022 semester. A total of 7,616 students were recognized for their outstanding academic performance.
To make a Dean’s List in one of the UK colleges, a student must earn a grade-point average of 3.6 or higher and must have earned 12 credits or more in that semester, excluding credits earned in pass-fail classes. Some UK colleges require a 3.5 GPA to make the Dean’s List.
