Local Podiatrist accused of ripping off Medicaid

A London Podiatrist, with offices in Williamsburg and Corbin, has been accused by a grand jury of ripping off the state’s Medicaid system by billing for services he never performed. Attorney General Jack Conway announced last week that a Franklin County grand jury indicted Dr. Richard E. Skrip on 23 felony counts of Medicaid fraud.

The indictment follows a criminal investigation conducted by the Attorney General’s Medicaid Fraud and Abuse Control Unit into Skrip’s billing practices.

Skrip, who has offices in several locations in south central and southeastern Kentucky, is charged with defrauding the Kentucky Medical Assistance Program by submitting claims for payment of services totaling approximately $25,000.

The indictment alleges Skrip submitted claims for services that he did not perform related to 26 patients between May 2001 and May 2008.
Skrip will be arraigned on the charges in the Franklin Circuit Court on December 3, 2010 at 10:30 a.m. 

The News Journal attempted to contact Skrip Tuesday, but calls to his London office seeking comment were not returned.
A charge is an allegation only. All defendants are innocent until proven guilty.
