Local players win 13th Region awards

Several basketball players from Corbin, Whitley County, Williamsburg and Lynn Camp have been recognized by various 13th Region organizations recently.

Corbin sophomore Andrew Taylor was named to the 13th Region Media All-Region first team, and he was also named to the region All-Tournament team. Senior Lady Hound Morgan Philpot was named to the girls region All-Tournament team.

Other 13th Region Media award winners for boys basketball included: Third team – Luke Woods (Whitley Co) and Honorable Mention – Jon Sasko (Whitley Co), Austyn Weddle (Lynn Camp), Bruce Hopkins (Lynn Camp), Austin Maier (Lynn Camp), Corey Johnson (Whitley Co), Zach Maguet (Corbin), Adam Petrey (Whitley Co), Casey Crisologo (Whitley Co) and Tanner Boggs (Williamsburg)

Other 13th Region Media award winners for girls basketball included: Second Team – Jaclyn Jewell (Corbin) and Brooklyn Bryant (Lynn Camp) and Honorable Mention – Sierra Feltner (Whitley Co), Abbey Estes (Whitley Co), Kameryn Ashurst (Corbin), Melanie Wilson (Corbin), Kaelie Frazier (Whitley Co), Sydney Tye (Williamsburg), Morgan Philpot (Corbin) and Emily Vanderpool (Whitley Co)

This year’s 13th Region Boys Basketball Coaches Association selections were Andrew Taylor (1st team), Luke Woods (2nd team), Corey Johnson (2nd team) and Austyn Weddle (2nd team).

This year’s 13th Region Girls Basketball Coaches Association selections were Jaclyn Jewell (1st team), Brooklyn Bryant (2nd team), Abbey Estes (2nd team), Melanie Wilson (2nd team), Sydney Tye (2nd team), Kaelie Frazier (3rd team), Kameryn Ashurst (3rd team), Sierra Feltner (3rd team) and Candice Gulley (3rd team).
