Local man behind bars after slashing girlfriend’s throat
A Gray man is behind bars after he allegedly slashed his girlfriend’s throat during a domestic disturbance Sunday morning.
Gregory W. Moore, 51, of Gray is charged with attempted murder/domestic violence for allegedly slashing the throat of his girlfriend, 50-year-old Mildred Hayden, at a residence on Dixon Drive.
The incident occurred at around 9:30 a.m. Sunday. Dispatchers with the Knox County 911 Center received a call from the residence saying that the woman’s throat had been slashed and that the alleged assailant was still on the scene.
Knox Deputy Roy Gambrel and other officers, along with Knox EMS, responded to the scene.
"She lost a lot of blood at the scene," Gambrel said, noting the victim was first taken to Baptist Regional Medical Center and then flown to the University of Kentucky Medical Center, where she was undergoing treatment at the time of this update.
Gambrel said the slashing started as a domestic disturbance. "He was made when she came home," Gambrel said.
Following the slashing, Gambrel said Moore stayed at the scene to reportedly render aid to the victim.
He was arrested at 10:59 a.m. and lodged in the Knox County Detention Center.
