Local doctor publishes book on addiction recovery
Dr. James Moss, of Williamsburg, has released a new book titled My Recovery Companion, which is, as he states in the book’s introduction, a result of his journey on the road to recovery over the past 25 years.
Dr. Moss received his doctorate degree at the University of Louisville, and trained as a surgeon at both U of L and the University of Pennsylvania. Before retiring and moving back home to Williamsburg, he practiced general and advanced laparoscopic surgery for 27 years. Recognized as a leader and an innovator in his professions, he is credited with the invention of the Moss T-tube, which became a standard for biliary tract surgeries in many medical facilities. He has also served as a guest lecturer at Harvard, and as a guest faculty member at Yale University.
In My Recovery Companion, Dr. Moss recounts how he has been personally affected by addiction, sharing with the reader the methods he, and others around him, have found to be most fruitful in aiding the recovery process.
In the book’s foreword, popular author and columnist Bryant A. Stamford, Ph. D., describes My Recovery Companion as, “a wonderfully organized inspirational and uplifting tool that immediately helps you focus meaningfully on the issue at hand.”
Anyone interested in obtaining a copy of Dr. Moss’ new book will have the chance to do so next Tuesday, Dec. 20, when he will be at the Suds Barn in downtown Williamsburg beginning at 5 p.m. Moss will be there to meet members of the community, and sign copies of his book.
