Little League/Junior League (Updated July 10)
After being defeated 17-7 by Hazard in their first game of the Junior League tournament, held at Lynn Camp High School, the Corbin All-Stars defeated North Laurel 18-2 in the loser’s bracket. That win resulted in the team playing Hazard again, this time for a district title.
Corbin won 4-1 Tuesday night, forcing a game two on Wednesday to determine a champion. Unfortunately, they did not fare so well in the second contest, losing to Hazard by a score of 6-2.
Corbin Junior League All-Stars are: Nate Steely (10), Chase Estep (24), Noah Taylor (7), Brayden Dickerson (9), Chrisitan Gosselin (21), Cameron Bowen (42), Nick Yeager (1), Cole Hick (14), Jaidyn Swanner (23), Matthew Mays (34), Grant Gibson (32) and Brody Barton (3). The Corbin 11-12 year-old All-Stars’ quest for a state championship berth is still alive. They crushed McCreary County 26-1 the opening round of the district tournament Tuesday, and they followed that up with a 12-10 victory over Knox County Wednesday. The team will be back in action Thursday at 8:00 PM at Rotary Park in Corbin.

The Williamsburg 9-10 year-old baseball All-Stars were scheduled to begin play in their district tournament at Middlesboro Wednesday night, but the game has been pushed back to Thursday at 8:00 PM. They will square off with Clay County.
