LITTLE LEAGUE
The Corbin Little League finished its regular season Thursday night with the 11-12 tournament won by Davis Salvage, 13-3.
Now it’s time for the Little League All-Star tournaments to begin.
Corbin will play in the Area Little League Tournament with a 12-year-old team, an 11-year old team and two Minor League teams.
The 12-year-old team will open against Clay County Saturday at 8 p.m. at the North Laurel Little League Complex off Highway 80. Win or lose they will play again Sunday at 2 or 4 p.m.
The Minor League Tournament will be held at Clay County with Corbin White taking on North Laurel Green at 5 p.m. Saturday. Should they win they will play at 4 p.m., Sunday and if they lose they will play at 6 p.m. Monday.
The Corbin Red team will play Sunday at 2 p.m. They will play the winner of the Clay County-South London 2.
The 11-year-old All-Stars will go straight to the District Four Tournament at Hazard. They will play North Laurel Friday, July 1 at 6 p.m. All tournaments are double-elimination.
The All-Stars and their coaches were announced last week. The manager for the 12-year old team will be Chad Estep with Wayne Willis and Brian Childress serving as assistant coaches. The players are Cole Brock (Davis Salvage), Drew Carter (Hometown Bank), John A. Childress (State Farm), Braden Dickerson (Teco Coal), Chase Estep (Davis Salvage), Alec Gambrel (Davis Salvage), Matthew Hart (Davis Salvage), Keaton Knuckles (Hometown Bank), Noah Metzger (Teco Coal), Ryan Phillips (Dr. Pepper), Christian Pippin (State Farm), Brayden Reedy (Hometown Bank), Ryan VanNorstran (Davis Salvage).
The 11-year-old All-Stars will coached by Shannon Sams (manager) with Keith Gibson and Vince Park as assistant coaches. The players are: Nathaniel Bingham (Wyatt Insurance), Justin Davis (Dr. Pepper), Grant Gibson (Teco Coal), Josh Hash (Dr. Pepper), Noah Howard (Wyatt Insurance), Rex Lacefield (Hometown Bank), Matthew Mays (Wyatt Insurance), Easton Pack (Wyatt Insurance), Devyn Sams (Hometown Bank), Austin Shackleford (Wyatt Insurance), Brenden Sipple (Dr. Pepper), Jonas Sproles (Davis Salvage), Kyle Vanover (Hometown Bank).
There will be two Minor League All-Star teams, Corbin Red and Corbin White. The Red team will be managed by Shane Creekmore with assistants Derik Unthank and Craig Kidd. Team members include: Matthew Creekmore, Colin Kidd, John Masters and Ben Phillips from the Reds; Max Dietz, Zach Faulkner of the Red Sox; Christian Gosselin, Zach Hash and Brian Jones of the Cubs; Noah Maze and Jayson Stancil of the Giants; Cole Shelton and Jacob Unthank of the Braves and Caleb VanNorstran from the Cardinals.
Todd Cockerman will manage the White team with assistants John Manon and Randy Worley. The players include Brett Barnett, Garner Chandler and Ethan White of the Reds, Abe Barnes, Boston Hardesty and Grant Morton from the Red Sox; Will Childers and Bradley Fauklner from the Braves; Cameron Gilbert, Spencer Gilbert and Jacob Strickland of the Cardinals. Steve Manon (Cubs) and Caden Worley of the Giants.
