Letter to the Editor: Put speedbumps back on Sanderlin Drive
To the Editor:
I have been a resident of Corbin for more than 40 years. I pay my city taxes. I have never asked the city for anything. However, my home is off Sanderlin Drive, so I must drive it several times almost every day. It is a dangerous road that connects Fifth Street to Barton Mill and it is heavily traveled. There have been numerous serious accidents on the road, including at least one fatality, of a City Commissioner.
After the fatality, speed bumps were put in for a short period of time and the road had a stripe down the middle. The city, in its infinite wisdom, removed the speed bumps after the city snow plow destroyed the majority of them, and there is no longer a stripe down the middle. Vehicles travel too fast on this road, they frequently are in the center of the road due to the lack of the center stripe, and the fact that the road is banked incorrectly around the curves.
I wrote the City Manager about this situation on April 9, and received no response whatsoever. I wrote a commissioner on May 8 about this situation and the failure of the City Manager to respond, and received no response whatsoever.
As an attorney, I am putting the city on notice – You have been warned about the dangerous condition of Sanderlin Drive. The city will be partially liable for the next serious accident on Sanderlin Drive.
