The Corbin Independent Board of Education will hold a special called Board meeting on Tuesday, September 12, 2023 @ 6:00pm at Corbin Board of Education Annex, 311 Barbourville Street, Corbin, Ky during which the Board will consider a proposed general fund tax levy of 64.7 cents on real property and 64.7 cents on personal property. The General Fund tax levied in fiscal year 2022-2023 was 65.0 cents on real property and 69.9 cents on personal property. Based on the real estate and tangible assessment increases, the district proposes a DECREASE of the real estate rate from 0.65 to 0.647 per $100 assessment and a DECREASE of the personal property rate from 0.699 to 0.647 per $100 assessment.

Notice is hereby given that Corbin Independent Schools, 108 Roy Kidd Avenue, Corbin, KY 40701, has filed an application with the Energy and Environment Cabinet to construct new synthetic turf fields for the existing baseball and softball fields. The property is located south of Corbin High School, 1901 Snyder St, Corbin, KY 40701 to the east and west of the existing track and field, adjacent to Bacon Creek. PUBLIC NOTICE:
Notice is given that R&R Auto Repair, 606-344-6999 (177 Sears Lane, Gray, KY 40734) will sell a 2013 Ford Transit Connect (VIN #NM0LS7CNX DT164767) belonging to KBC Distributing, 873 E Laurel Road, London, KY 40741, on September 27, 2023, as arising from a mechanic’s lien. Lienholders on the vehicle may include Simplicity Financial Solutions, LLC, Dean A. Holland, Huntington National Bank, and Kentucky Highlands Investment Corporation. Affiant, R&R Auto Repair, intends to obtain title to the vehicle unless the owner or a lienholder objects in writing within fourteen (14) days after the last publication of this legal notice, which will be September 13, 2023.
NOTICE OF HEARING
WILLIAMSBURG INDEPENDENT SCHOOLS
The Williamsburg Independent Board of Education will hold a public hearing in the Williamsburg Independent City School Auditorium at 1000 Main Street, Williamsburg, KY 40769 on September 19, 2023 at 5:00 pm to hear public comments regarding a proposed general fund tax levy of 43.5 cents on real property and 49.9 cents on personal property. The proposed tax rate for 2023-2024 school year is the same tax rate approved by the Williamsburg Independent Board of Education for the 2022-2023 school year.
The General Fund tax levied in fiscal year 2023 was 43.5 cents on real property and 49.9 cents on personal property, producing revenue of $858,140.19. The proposed General Fund tax rates of 43.5 cents on real property and 49.9 cents on personal property are expected to produce $1,093,152.21. Of this amount $174,366.55 is from new and personal property. The compensating tax for 2024 is 37.3 cents on real property and 37.3 cents on personal property and is expected to produce $918,170.42.
The general areas to which revenue of $235,012.02 above 2023 revenue is to be allocated are as follows: Building Fund, $60,000; Instruction, $100,000; Transportation, $50,000; and Maintenance of Plant, $25,012.02.

CITY OF WILLIAMSBURG, KENTUCKY
ORDINANCE NO. 23-004
AN ORDINANCE AMENDING THE ZONING ORDINANCE TO REDUCE THE LOT AREA AND WIDTH REQUIRED FOR SINGLE FAMILY AND DUPLEXES IN AN R-2 DUPLEX/MULTI-FAMILY RESIDENTIAL DISTRICT.
WHEREAS, the Planning and Zoning Commission held a public hearing on August 22, 2023, to consider whether the Zoning Ordinance should be amended to reduce the minimum lot area and minimum lot width required for single family and duplexes in an R-2 Duplex/Multi-Family Residential District and at the conclusion of said public hearing, the Commission held a meeting, made findings of fact, and voted to recommend said amendments to the City Council,
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF WILLIAMSBURG, KENTUCKY, AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION I: Ordinance No. 92-005 the “Zoning Ordinance” be and is amended as follows:
- a) the area of the minimum lot size required for a single family home is reduced from 6,000 square feet to 5,000 square feet
- b) the width of the minimum lot size required for a single family home is reduced from 60 feet to 50 feet;
- c) the area of the minimum lot size required for a duplex is reduced from 10,000 square feet to 5,000 square feet; and
- d) the width of the minimum lot size required for a duplex is reduced from 100 feet to 50 feet.
SECTION II: This Ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and after it’s adoption, approval, and publication, and all ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict herewith are repealed and held for naught.
