NOTICE OF INTENTION TO MINE

Pursuant to Application Number 918-0433

(1) In accordance with KRS 350.055, notice is hereby given that Alden Resources LLC, 332 West Cumberland Gap Parkway, Suite 100, Corbin, Ky 40701 , has filed an application for a permit for a surface coal mining and reclamation operation affecting 98.15 acres located 0.5 miles north of Perkins in Whitley County, Kentucky.

 (2) The proposed operation is approximately 0.8 miles east from Maple Creek Road’s junction with Brown Creek Road.   The latitude is N 36°47’01.68”.  The longitude is W 84°03’37.63”.  The surface area is owned by David Boyd, Dee Woods Heirs, William and Edna Hill, Ray and Geneva Hill and Doris Ann Vanover.

(3) The proposed operation is located on the Rockholds U.S.G.S. 7 ½ minute quadrangle map.  The operation will use the contour and auger methods of mining.

 

 (4)  This is the final advertisement of the application. All comments, objections, or requests for a permit conference must be received within thirty (30) days of today’s date. The application has been filed for public inspection at the Department for Natural Resources, Middlesboro Regional Office, 1804 East Cumberland Avenue, Middlesboro, Kentucky 40965-1229.  Written comments, objections or requests for a permit conference must be filed with the Director, Division of Mine Permits, #2 Hudson Hollow, U.S. 127 South, Frankfort, Kentucky 40601. 

 

NOTICE OF INTENTION TO MINE

In accordance with KRS 350.070, notice is hereby given that Emlyn Coal Processing LLC, 4184 S HWY 25W Williamsburg, KY.  40769, has applied for a permit for a surface coal mining and reclamation operation located approximately 1 mile northeast from the intersection of Louden-Meadow Creek Road and SR 1064 in Whitley County.  The proposed permit is requesting 34.12 acres of surface disturbance and will underlie an additional 20.19 acres making total area of 54.31 acres within the proposed permit boundary.   

The proposed permit area is located within the DeadMan Hollow watershed which drains to the Cumberland River located south of  the mouth of Dead Man Hollow.

The proposed permit is located on the Rockholds U.S.G.S. 7 1/2 Minute Quadrangle Map.   The surface and underlying areas to be disturbed by this permit are owned by; Randall Anderson, and Virginia Hamblin.  The operation will use the; Contour, Surface Remining and Auger methods of Mining.

SLIDE REPAIR ON RIVER ROAD (Canada Town)

Whitley County Fiscal Court is now accepting bids for slide repair on River Road (Canada Town) at Archers Creek.  Location: Latitude: 36º 45’ 37.8”, Longitude -84º 17’ 10.7”.

This is an Emergency Watershed Protection project, sponsored by the USDA Soil Conservation in partnership with the Whitley County Fiscal Court.

The contract consists of excavation of the stream bank at the location of the slide, drilling, placing and grouting of rail steel, placement of cribbing and Geotextile and back fill with Class II cyclopean stone.  The stream is environmentally sensitive so procedures to protect against spills and erosion are part of this contract.

All labor, materials, equipment and Worker’s Compensation Insurance to be furnished by the Contractor.  If you are awarded the bid, work must start immediately as the contractor will have ten days from the award of contract to complete the project.  If the contractor has a viable reason to overrun the time limit on the project, an extension may be granted.

A mandatory pre-bid meeting will be held a 10 AM on 17th of June, 2011.  As this is a federally funded contract all federal wage and hour regulation and materials standards apply.

Conflicts of interest, gratuities and kickbacks are defined in KRS 45A.445 and as provided for in KRS 45A.445 are absolutely prohibited. 

Whitley County reserves the right to waive any informality and may reject any and all bids.
