NOTICE OF INTENTION TO MINE
Pursuant to Application Number 918-0427
In accordance with the provisions of KRS 350.055 notice is hereby given that Alden Resources LLC 332 West Cumberland Gap Parkway, Suite 100, Corbin, Kentucky 40701 has filed an application for an amendment to an existing surface coal mining and reclamation operation. This amendment proposes to add 13.40 acres of surface contour mining area and 22.00 acres of auger area. The total proposed permit acreage of 193.49 acres is located approximately 2.26 miles south of Nevisdale in Whitley County.
The proposed amendment area is approximately 2.26 miles south from Gatliff Road’s junction with KY 904 and located near the head of Patterson Creek.
The proposed amendment area is located on the Saxton, KY 7½ minute quadrangle map. The operation will use the contour and auger method of surface mining. The surface area is owned by Andy Shelton Heirs and the Gibbs & St. Clair Heirs.
This is the final advertisement of the application. All comments, objections or requests for a permit conference must be received within thirty (30) days of today’s date. The application has been filed for public inspection at the Department for Natural Resources, Middlesboro Regional Office, 1804 East Cumberland Avenue, Middlesboro, Kentucky 40965-1229. Written comments, objections or requests for a permit conference must be filed with the Director, Division of Mine Permits, #2 Hudson Hollow, U.S. 127 South, Frankfort, Kentucky 40601.

In accordance with 405 KAR 8:010 notice is hereby given that Alden Resources LLC, 332 West Cumberland Gap Parkway, Suite 100, Corbin, Kentucky 40701 intends to transfer permit number 918-0433 to Alden Resources LLC, 332 West Cumberland Gap Parkway, Suite 100, Corbin, Kentucky 40701. The new permit number will be permit number 918-0447. The operation disturbs 91.85 surface acres and underlies 7.8 acres. No new acreage is affected by the transfer.
The operation is located 0.5 mile north of Perkins in Whitley County. The operation is approximately 0.8 mile east from Maple Creek Road’s junction with Brown Creek Road. The operation is located on the Rockholds U.S.G.S. 7½ minute quadrangle maps.
The application has been filed for public inspection at the Department for Surface Mining Reclamation and Enforcement’s Middlesboro Regional Office, 1804 East Cumberland Avenue, Middlesboro, Kentucky 40965-1229. Written comments or objections must be filed with the Director, Division of Mine Permits, #2 Hudson Hollow, U.S. 127 South, Frankfort, Kentucky 40601.
