 NOTICE OF INTENTION TO MINE

Pursuant to Application Number 918-5170, Renewal

In accordance with KRS 350.055, notice is hereby given that Southfork Coal Co., 80 Terrace Drive, Bristol, VA.  24202, has applied for renewal of a permit for an existing underground coal mining operation located 2.8 miles east of Hollyhill in McCreary/Whitley counties Kentucky. The operation disturbs 2.91 surface acres and underlies 171.60 acres for a total of 174.51 acres within the permit boundary.

The operation lies on Buck’s Branch approximately 2.1 miles southwest of State Rt. 92 intersection with State Rt. 1893 and 1.7 miles west of the confluence of Buck’s Branch and Jellico Creek. The Latitude is 36 degrees, 39 minutes, and 32 seconds, and the Longitude is 84 degrees, 17 minutes, and 37 seconds.

The operation is located on the Hollyhill USGS 7 2 Minute Quadrangle Map.  The disturbed surface is owned by Harold Campbell, Jr. The operation will underlie land owned by Harold Campbell, Jr., Terry E. Forcht, Joe Patrick and Glenda Joyce Campbell.

This is the final advertisement of this application.  All comments, objections, or request for a permit conference must be received within thirty (30) days of today’s date. The application has been filed for public inspection at the Department for Surface Mining Reclamation and Enforcement’s Middlesboro Regional Office, 1804 Cumberland Avenue, Middlesboro, Kentucky  40965.  Written comments or objections or requests for a permit conference must be filed with the Director, Division of Permits, #2 Hudson Hollow, U.S. 127 South, Frankfort, Ky. 40601.

NOTICE OF INTENTION TO MINE

Pursuant to Application 918-0424

In accordance with the provisions of KRS 350.055, notice is hereby given that B&B Energy, LLC, P.O. Box 1016, Williamsburg, KY 40769, has applied for a permit for a surface coal mining operation, located 7.6 miles southwest of Barbourville in Knox and Whitley Counties, Kentucky. The proposed permit area will disturb 53.0 acres and underlie 0 acres, for a total area within the permit boundary of 53.0 acres. The proposed operation is located approximately 0.5 miles east of the junction of County Road 1530 and Owens Cemetery Road. The proposed operation is located 0.3 miles east of Owens Branch.

The proposed operation is located on the Barbourville U.S.G.S. 7 1/2 minute quadrangle map. The permit surface area to be disturbed is owned by Roy Baker, Myra Sizemore and Star Miller.

The operation will affect an area within 100 feet of Miller Town Road. The operation will not involve relocation and/or closure of the public road.

The application has been filed for public inspection at the Department for Natural Resources’s Middlesboro Regional Office, 1804 Cumberland Ave., Middlesboro, Kentucky 40965.

NOTICE OF INTENTION TO MINE

Pursuant to Application Number 918-0420, Operator Change

In accordance with 405 KAR 8:010, notice is hereby given that, Engle Hollow Mining, LLC, 3411 Cumberland Falls HWY, Corbin, KY 40701 intends to revise permit number 918-0420 to change the operator. The operator presently approved in the permit is the permittee. The new operator will be C & T Excavators, LLC, 239 Ellen Lane, Gray Kentucky 40734.

The operation is located 2.5 miles east of Rockholds in Whitley County.  The operation is approximately 0.6 miles northeast from Tyes Ferry Road’s junction with Gail Hart Road and located 0.9 miles east of Bays Hollow. The operation is located on the Rockholds U.S.G.S. 7 1/2 minute quadrangle map.

The application has been filed for public inspection at the Department for Natural Resources Middlesboro Regional Office, 1804 East Cumberland Avenue, Middlesboro, Kentucky 40965. Written comments or objections must be filed with the Director, Division of Permits, #2 Hudson Hollow, U.S. 127 South, Frankfort, Kentucky 40601. All comments or objections must be received within 15 days of today’s date.
