NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING

The Public Service Commission of Kentucky will hold a hearing on June 14, at 9:00 a.m., Eastern Daylight Time, in Hearing Room 1 of the Commission’s offices, located at 211 Sower Boulevard in Frankfort, Kentucky, for the purpose of cross-examination of witnesses in Case No. 2016-00026, which is the Application of Kentucky Utilities Company for Certificates of Public Convenience and Necessity and Approval of its 2016 Compliance Plan for Recovery by Environmental Surcharge.

NOTICE OF INTENTION TO MINE

Pursuant to Application Number 918-0465, Renewal

In accordance with KRS 350.050, notice is hereby given that Mountainside Coal Co., Inc., 7692 S. HWY 25W, Williamsburg, KY 40769 has applied for a permit renewal for a surface and auger/highwall mining and reclamation operation affecting 616.7 total acres, located in Whitley and Knox counties, Kentucky.

The operation is located 2.4 miles northeast of the community of Siler and 1.8 miles north of the confluence of Harpes creek and Puncheon branch in Whitley County. The permit area is approximately 1.16 miles north of the intersection of Puncheon Branch Road and Harpes Creek road. The latitude is 36° 41’ 51” N and the longitude is 83° 55’ 53”W.

The operation is located on the Frakes USGS 7 ½ minute quadrangle map. The operation will use the contour and auger/highwall mining methods. The surface is owned by Corrigan TLP LLC, TKY Acquisitions LLC, and Ed B. Jones.

The renewal application has been filed for public inspection at the Department for Natural Resources Middlesboro Regional Office, 1804 East Cumberland Avenue, Middlesboro, Kentucky 40965. Written comments or objections must be filed with the Director, Division of Permits, #2 Hudson Hollow, U.S. 127 South, Frankfort, Kentucky 40601.

PUBLIC NOTICE:

Pursuant to 405 KAR 8:010, Section 16(5), the following is a summary of permitting decisions made by the Department for Natural Resources, Division of Mine Permits with respect to applications to conduct surface coal mining and reclamation operations in Whitley County. PUBLIC NOTICE

An ordinance amending the Whitley County Budget for Fiscal Year 2015- 2016, to include unanticipated receipts increasing/decreasing from various Funds in the amount of $403,145.00 and increasing/decreasing expenditures from the various Funds in the amount of $403,145.00 was passed on 05/16/16. A copy of the Ordinance with full text is available for public inspection at the Office of the County Judge Executive during normal business hours.
