Lefevers named new Corbin Middle School Asst. Principal

Christi Lefevers was named Corbin Middle School Asst. Principal.
A Corbin High School English teacher was named Thursday as the new Assistant Principal at Corbin Middle School.
School officials announced in a news release that Christi Lefevers would take over the position beginning July 1.
Lefevers has 18 years of teaching experience. She has served as an English Teacher at Corbin High School since 2013. Prior to joining the Corbin Independent School system, Lefevers taught at Bell County High School for 15 years.
Lefevers holds a Rank I – Principalship P-12 from Eastern Kentucky University, a Rank I – National Board Certification, a Masters of Arts in Secondary Education from Union College, and a Bachelor of Arts in English from Union College. Lefevers also has a background in curriculum instruction, having served as the Curriculum Writer for Bell County High School for eight years.
Lefevers is one of 11 Nationally Board Certified Teachers in the Corbin District. She has been active at Corbin High School, currently serving as the Corbin High School Freshman Department Head.
In the release, Corbin Schools officials said “Lefevers has proven herself as a skilled organizer. She also possesses exceptional team work skills and is committed to the continuous improvement of Corbin Middle School.”
During her teaching career, she has created, planned, and organized numerous programs at both Corbin and Bell County High Schools. She was also active in the Bell County District serving as the National Honor Society Sponsor, the language arts department chair, and was a member of the Site Based Decision Making Council.
“I feel honored and very humbled to be part of such a dynamic team,” Lefevers said. “I am excited to serve in any capacity I can to help take Corbin Middle School to the next level.”
Lefevers will replace Penny Hammons who announced her retirement effective July 1, 2016. Hammons has served as the Corbin Middle School Assistant Principal for eight years.
